The Road to Rome

Captain Ralph R. Hotchkiss in his beloved Jeep "Jim and Josie"

This story in conjunction with "Letter to Hotchie" letter are accounts of the same days from the same man, my Grandfather. The time was July, 1944. The place: Rome, Italy shortly after the Allies taking of the city on June 4. The only thing alike is the time and place. The representation of the war correspondents viewpoint compared to one expressed to a wife back home is a fascinating juxtaposition.

Newsreel Footage of the Liberation of Rome

This is the entire transcript of the story. As far as I know this was never published previously.
