The Winter Line Stories

Real-life accounts of the unheralded heros of the Italian Campaign of WWII

Letter to "Hotchie"

Major Ralph Hotchkiss and Major Frank Pellegrin in St. Peter's Square

~~~
This letter in conjunction with "The Road to Rome" story are accounts of the same days from the same man, my Grandfather. The time was July, 1944. The place: Rome, Italy shortly after the Allies taking of the city on June 4. The only thing alike is the time and place. The representation to one's wife back home compared to the war correspondents viewpoint is a fascinating juxtaposition.
This scanned page is taken directly from the original story. The entire transcript of the story along with commentary will be in the published version of "Winterline Stories"
